Dans les années 90, Peugeot profitait des accords entre le Chili et la République du Mexique pour faire venir ses véhicules (405, 306 puis 206) depuis ses usines de fabrications installées près de Santiago.
Face au succès rencontré, et surtout avec la sortie de la 206, vite devenue très populaire en terres mexicaines, Peugeot décidera d’y installer une filiale d’importation et de commercialisation afin de pouvoir répondre avec plus de souplesse à la demande du marché, en sachant que les Mexicains ont un mode de fonctionnement en matière de consommation proche de celui des américains, qui aiment acheter leur véhicule rapidement, comme un produit de grande consommation."
